This is the life now of award-winning former actress Chin Chin Gutierrez after she left the Philippine entertainment industry.
Chin Chin Gutierrez or Maria Carminia Lourdes Cynthia Gutierrez in real life is a former actress who was popular for her portrayal of Maria Clara in ‘Noli Me Tangere’ TV series back in the year 1992.
She also starred in ‘Mourning Girls’ in 2005 and ‘Maging Sino Ka Man’, which was one of the most watched TV series of Kapamilya network during that time.
The former actress received Best Actress award from Gawad Urian in 1995 for her role in 1994 ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya: The Movie”. She also bagged the Best Actress award from the first Asian Television award in 1996 and 1998 as Best Supporting Actress.
Despite her remarkable performances, Chin Chin still reached to the point when she decided to take a break from the glitz and glamour of showbiz.
After leaving the industry, she concentrated most of her time as an advocate for the preservation of the environment. She has become a highly sought-after resource speaker and lecturer for Environmental Education.
Chin Chin was faced with a tragedy in 2006 when their home was caught on fire. She suffered second-degree burns on her hands and feet as she was trying to save her mother.
The same tragic incident happened to their house in Loyola Heights, Quezon City back in 2010. That was their temporary shelter when their original house was caught on fire.
When the news came out that the former actress entered the Carmelite Convent to become a nun, many were really surprised. It is for the reason that it is unexpected for most women in showbiz to enter the said profession.
On the other hand, it was confirmed that Chin Chin Gutierrez followed her mother’s path, a former Franciscan nun who served in Italy.
