Nonie Buencamino shares thoughts about the suicide of his daughter back in 2015
Award-winning actor Nonie Buencamino has finally broken his silence on his daughter’s suicide back in 2015.
Family, friends, and fans of Julia Buencamino were shocked and saddened after she was found dead in her room.
Julia was 15 back then and was one of the stars in Kapamilya series Oh My G!
Nonie and his wife Shamaine did not divulge deeper details about their daughter’s death. However, during a recent interview on Tonight With Boy Abunda, the veteran actor broke his silence.
According to him, he is not afraid of death anymore because of what he witnessed from his Julia. He fully understands that death can happen to anyone at any time.
The actor also shared that their daughter concealed a lot of things from them. With that, he can say that Julia is a very good actress for pretending that she was okay but in reality, she was not.
“Ang dami niyang tinago sa mga diaries niya, a artwork niya, sa kaniyang poetry. Doon lang namin nakilala kung ano ang pinagdaanan niya,” Nonie Buencamino shared.
He added that Julia was suffering from a deep form of depression and that she was hurting herself from the time she was 12 until 15.
Nonie admitted also that he was denial that her daughter would hurt herself.
When asked what is his advice to parents, he said,“look more deeply into the activities of your children and what they’re doing and what they’re going through.”
Nonie Buencamino and his wife now has their advocacy, the Julia Buencamino Project, which aims to help young people overcome their mental illness.
