These are the hardships of Katrina Velarde due to Bell’s Palsy
Singer Katrina Velarde shared the hardships she encountered when she had Bell’s Palsy during the time that she was pregnant.
WebMD has this explanation regarding this condition: “Bell’s palsy is a condition in which the muscles on one side of your face become weak or paralyzed. It affects only one side of the face at a time, causing it to droop or become stiff on that side. It’s caused by some kind of trauma to the seventh cranial nerve.”
Unfortunately, Katrina experienced this in the 8th month of her pregnancy. “Hindi naman po talaga ako mag-i-stop dapat kumanta, e, kasi po nagso-show pa rin ako with Tito Gary [Valenciano], seven months [pregnant]. Pagtuntong ko ng eight months, ayun, nagkaroon ng Bell’s Palsy po ako,” she shared during an interview with PEP.

Katrina said that it was so difficult for her since she can’t properly eat for herself and for her baby. In addition, her face was deformed and it took her three to four months to have an 80 to 90 percent recovery.
She went through therapy. The singer shared that pregnant women are really prone to this kind of health condition. Fortunately, her voice was not affected but it just somehow took a rest. “After two months, tabingi pa po… syubingi pa po ang mukha ko, pero ikinakanta ko na din talaga para hindi po masyadong matagal yung pahinga. Halata po, hanggang ngayon po, halata pa rin, parang 90 percent po,” she shared.
Behind the struggles that she went through, Katrina Velarde is grateful to return to what she loves to do. She is set to have her second major concert titled Sikati2 at the New Frontier Theater on November 29, 2019, based on the report.
