Where is former beauty queen/daring actress Dindi Gallardo now?
Former beauty queen and daring actress Dindi Gallardo is living this kind of life now after she left the Philippine entertainment industry.
Dindi, or Melinda Joanna Gallardo in real-life, joined the Binibining Pilipinas back in 1993 and she won. In the same year, she got the chance to represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe competition in Mexico City.
That opened an opportunity for her to do acting stints. She did several movies such as Dyesebel (1996), Nang iniwan mo ako (1997) and Katawan (1999). Dindi also became of the daring actresses during the 90s.
Based on the article from GMA, dated back in 2012, the former actress decided to go to San Francisco to study fashion design and merchandising. That was back in 1989. However, due to her aim to have her “soul-searching”, she went to Europe and then finally decided to settle in New York in 2003.
Fortunately, she got a job as an assistant to an artist. “I quit Buchwald to get another job with a bigger production company. But it didn’t happen. I was really upset. Then boom, this job fell on my lap. I didn’t even know who (my future boss) was. We clicked so well. I got promoted two times. We’re about to film a big, big film with a full cast,” she shared.
Dindi also shared that her boss had no idea that she is a celebrity in the Philippines. This fact was just revealed to her boss when some Filipinos asked her for an autograph. The former actress got married to Eric Mills. “He was in the restaurant/bar industry. He was a consultant, he would set up restaurants in L.A. We met in San Francisco in the fashion school where I was in, we were not really classmates but he had a major crush on me even then. He lived in Bangkok, he’s exposed to living in Asia for a long time. He’s like an Asian in a white man’s body, so weird,” Dindi shared.
It was also reported in 2012 on the site of Rappler that she filed a racial discrimination case against her boss Frank Miller, creator of The Dark Knight, and his girlfriend Kimberly Cox.
She had her showbiz comeback in 2015 through the “Dahlin Nick,” a documentary drama about the life and work of National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin where she played the role of former first lady Imelda Marcos.
Based on her social media posts, Dindi Gallardo had an acting stint in 2018 in the Kapamilya drama show Ipaglaban Mo and in the defunct afternoon series The Blood Sisters.
