JK Labajo Faced With Case Filed by Mother of Darren Espanto
DARREN ESPANTO – Marinel Gonzales-Cruz, the mother of Kapamilya actor-singer Darren Espanto, filed a case against her son’s fellow singer JK Labajo.
Among the young celebrities who are products of the ABS-CBN talent search show The Voice Kids are Kapamilya singers Darren Espanto and JK Labajo. The two(2) singers have also done acting projects.
JK was part of the ABS-CBN primetime television series A Love To Last while Darren was one of the cast members of the KathNiel movie The How’s of Us.
Previously, Darren Espanto and JK Labajo were involved in an issue due to a controversial social media post on the account of the latter. The tweet contained allegations that he’s not a straight man.
JK claimed that his account was hacked and it was not him who posted the allegation over Darren’s preference.
Recently, an update regarding the issue crossed the surface.
Based on a report on Pep, the mother of Darren Espanto has filed a case against JK Labajo. The case filed by Marinel Gonzales-Cruz was cyber libel.
It was Darren’s mom who filed the case since the actor-singer is a minor. He will be turning 18 years old on May 24, 2019.
Based on the report, the case already had two(2) hearings yet JK did not make an appearance. Attorney Lorna Kapunan, the lawyer of Darren’s camp, it was only recently when they found out that JK got his own lawyer and had the case re-opened.
Currently, the proceedings are no ongoing and according to the lawyer, there is no possibility of settlement at the moment. She expressed that Darren’s parents “have a strong sense of right and wrong”.
Meanwhile, based on the report, Atty. Kapunan also expressed that if it can be settled outside the court, it would be settled.
“Maybe in due time, if there is sincere apology on the part of JK and hindi na uulitin, maybe that would be an opening for the parents to consider,” the lawyer said.
