Sugar Mercado now has the SC’s decision for Permanent Protection Order against her ex-husband
The Supreme Court favored former Sexbomb dancer Sugar Mercado over a case filed by her ex-husband Kristoffer Jay Go.
She was able to obtain the Permanent Protection Order based on the decision of Supreme Court Third Division.
The Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 86 released the PPO which had the support from the Court of Appeals. Her ex-husband strongly disagreed on this.
Based on the article published in Bandera, a joint statement from Representatives Emmi de Jesus at Arlene Brosas from Gabriela, it was said that this is not only a success on Mercado’s part but also in all the women in general.
“This marks a significant victory not only for Sugar but for the #LabananAngAbuso campaign and for other victims of violence against women and their children. This is a message of hope to women facing various forms of violence from their partners – that we can successfully secure legal remedies by partaking in the broad fight to end all forms of violence against women,” their joint statement stressed out.
Aside from this, Gabriela is also hoping that the Supreme Court will declare the case filed by Go against Mercado as Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation.

That is what the camp of the former dancer is petitioning right now, based on the article.
“A positive resolution of Sugar’s petition will inure not only to her benefit but for the benefit of battered women all over the country who are similarly situated. We also hope that this development will be an added push in the conduct of anti-VAWC law reviews in various levels with different partners,” they stated.
It can be recalled that Sugar Mercado received child abuse complaint from her former husband last year, based on the article published in The Philippine Star.
