Lea said on her tweet, “Dear call center phone reps leaving messages for your customers, PLEASE ENUNCIATE! One such rep left a message that I could not, for the life of me, understand. Words were chewed up and garbled. Clarity is everything. Thank you.”

Apparently, the Broadway icon had a frustrating experience with the call center agent who left a message for her.

A netizen in the person of Twitter user @AnnabelleM07 commented if Lea has any  idea if the said call representative is a Filipino because according to the netizen, Indians are known to have that problem.

The singer/actress replied to this by saying that it was definitely not Indian.

“More specifically Pinoy trying to sound American,” Lea said on her reply.

With this tweet of Lea, many netizens who commented on her post also shared the same experience they had before with Filipino call center agents who are trying to sound American.

Twitter user @janedelit1said that it was a ridiculous situation because since those in the Philippines can speak their vernacular if they have service in the country.

This was answered by Lea. She said that she’s in America when that call happened but the American company outsources their call elsewhere.

Twitter user @TagaCallCenter who apparently works as a call center agent expressed conformity to what the singer said on her tweet.

According to the said netizen, speaking with clarity is definitely more important that trying to sound like American.
