He is currently bedridden in a small hospital room at the Valenzuela Medical Center in Valenzuela, Bulacan. He was with other patients in a ward.
Based on the article published in Pang-Masa, former actress Barbara Milano and now councilor of Talavera, Nueva Ecija visited the ailing Makiling in the hospital.
It was said that Direk Mike could not hinder himself from crying when the former actress visited him. It was because he did not expect that someone from the entertainment industry would remember him.
According to the article, his situation in the hospital is heartbreaking.
Barbara also cried upon seeing the current situation of the movie director who popularized various films during his time.
At his old age, he was already weak. What added to his tear-jerking situation is that he used to be one of the famous director but now he is just there lying on a bed in a small hospital room.
Based on the article, it was only the director’s daughter Amor who was with him in the hospital. His other relatives are not visiting him anymore.
The only hope he can have now is the help coming from the people in the Philippine entertainment industry.

The said movie originally starred the classic comedian Chiquito back in the ’70s. Kapamilya comedian Vhong Navarro had a remake of ‘Mang Kepweng’ in 2017.
