These are news reporters who were involved to controversies
There were several news reporters in the Philippines who became part of the news also because of the controversies they were involved with.
Here are some of them.
Korina Sanchez
She went controversial because of her blind item statement in her defunct radio program. She said something about a blonde reporter of CNN who reported inaccurately regarding the typhoon Yolanda in Tacloban.
Korina was talking about Anderson Cooper who said “I have not seen a large Philippine military presence out around here. The search and rescue never materialized.”
During that time, Mar Roxas was the Secretary of Department of Local and Interior Government and he became upset about the statement of Cooper.
With that, the CNN reporter clarified the issue and said there’s certainly government present but he did not see the effort from the Philippine military during the search for missing bodies.
It was said that Korina was suspended in her radio show and in TV Patrol because of that but she clarified that she was doing rounds in Western Visayas for her magazine show.
Atom Araullo
He faced controversy when ‘Citizen Jake’ director Mike De Leon ranted on social media against him.
Atom was not able to hold his silence regarding the issue, so he fired back to the tirade of the movie director.
Mike criticized the journalism that Atom is practicing. On the other hand, the reporter answered that everyone on the set of the movie can attest the woeful behavior of the director.
Mel Tiangco
She was suspended without pay in TV Patrol back in the year 1995 when she appeared in a detergent soap commercial.
News reporters from ABS-CBN is not allowed to do it without the approval from the management.
That situation prompted Mel to transfer to GMA. Because of this, the conflict between her and the Kapamilya network reached to the court.
Jessica Soho
The host of “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” had a conflict with Vice Ganda before. The Kapamilya comedian mentioned the name of Jessica in his “gang rape” joke during the ‘I-Vice Ganda Mo Ako Sa Araneta’ concert.
For the veteran broadcaster, the issue was not about her but the sensitive topic about rape.
Vice aired a public apology in ‘It’s Showtime’ after he called Jessica on the phone.
The Kapuso reporter accepted the apology.
