Nida Blanca: A Lookback In The Life And Mysterious Death Of A Star

This is a lookback in the life of Nida Blanca and the mystery surrounding her death almost two decades ago.

Nida Blanca or Dorothy Jones in real life started her showbiz career when she was just 14 years old.

Through a movie of Delia Razon under LVN Productions, she was introduced in the industry.

Because her skin was so white, Delia tagged her as Blanca, a Spanish term for white, thus her screen name.

In the 1950s she was considered as one of the top leading ladies but her tandem with Nestor de Villa clicked the most.

For six decades in being in the showbiz industry, she did more than 200 movies.

She had a daughter named Katherine “Kaye” Torres from her first marriage with Victorino Torres but their relationship ended when their child turned 2 years old.

Nida got married to her second husband America singer and actor Rod Strunk in 1979.

The whole Philippines was shocked when reports stated that she was killed on November 7, 2001.

She was was found dead in the backseat of her car on the 6th floor parking lot of Atlanta Centre, based on the article published in PEP.

Aside from the 13 stab wounds in her body with a fatal blow on her neck that pierced the larynx, Nida’s right eye also suffered hematoma and her two ribs were broken.

There were several theories regarding her death and the person or people behind it.

Rod Strunk was accused of murdering her while some said that he was just a fall guy.

A man named Philip Medel was presented before the public as he admitted he did the crime but eventually reversed his previous statement.

There was a theory which stated that Nida Blanca was involved with a big amount of dirty money from a politician.

Another theory pointed out that she was involved in a secret network in a casino.

However, none of these is certain yet, until this very moment.

In 2007, Nida’s husband reportedly committed suicide when he fell from a hotel balcony 20 feet high, based on the article.

National Bureau of Investigation charged Rod of being the mastermind in Nida Blanca’s murder but he was able to get out of the country 5 months earlier than July 2002.

The other suspect, Medel, passed away due to sepsis secondary to pneumonia at the Pasig General Hospital in April 2010.

Until now, Nida Blanca’s murderer remains a mystery.
