Duterte Controversial Remarks did not sound well to others.
Following her controversial remarks about an Australian woman who was r@p3d and k!ll3d in 1989, it seemed that Davao City Mayor and presidential runner Rodrido Duterte is getting criticisms from local celebrities.
On a viral video, Duterte joked about a slain Australian r@p3 victim and this did not come well to critics especially to his rivals and other celebrities as they weigh on the issue.
Gab Valeniciano took to Facebook to express his opinion regarding the controversial statement of the presidential candidate.
In his post, Valenciano admitted that he have learned his lesson about speaking his mind on certain issues however added that what the mayor had said is a serious one that has to be addressed.
“This country needs to freaking wake up.” he said.
Valenciano earlier aired his opinions against Duterte and revealed that he then received threats.
“All I hear are excuses from his supporters who crave change, yet are willing to give up parts of their soul to acquire that change. Excuses. Excuses. Excuses. Every misstep is countered by an essay of how he will make the Philippines great again. You point out the corruption of Binay, inability and insincerity of Poe, and laugh and share memes of Roxas, yet glorify this man. Obviously, all our current candidates are not perfect. But do not go out of your way to bash the others and deem yours most eligible and deserving.”
Musician Noel Cabangon also slashed Duterte’s statement and aired his disappointment on Facebook.
Cabangon said on his post that a leader who condones violence will encourage the citizens to embrace violence, too. Adding that the followers have already threatened critics with rape and murder just because of the difference of view.
Even Chito Miranda who previously announced his support for Duterte was even bothered by his statement.
“I was deeply offended and disappointed. I really hope he cleans up his act, for the sake of the country.” he said.
Duterte in an interview said, “Nagalit ako kasi nirape, oo isa rin ‘yun. Pero napakaganda, dapat ang mayor muna ang mauna. Sayang.” (as quoted)
The mayor had already apologized earlier.
