Charo Santos is included in the list of unsung performances which Oscar Awards did not recognize, according to US-based magazine ‘City Beat’
ABS CBN Executive Charo Santos, who is now returning in acting, must be recognized by the Oscars, one of the most prestigious award-giving bodies.
This statement is according to US-based Magazine named ‘City Beat’ which was published in its recent article entitled “The Best Film Performances Snubbed By Oscar”.
Based on the article recently published in Philippines’ Ultimate Showbiz Hub (PUSH), the performance of Santos in her come back movie ‘Ang Babaeng Humayo’ (The Woman Who Left) is one of the missed out performances of Oscars.
The article in City Beat cited that “Rage, empathy, heartache, joy: This performance has it all”, pertaining to the remarkable role playing of the veteran actress in the said movie.
The director of the movie, Lav Diaz, also received recognition from the San Diego-based publication. It is for the reason that he has convinced the woman who is considered to be “one of Filipino cinema’s titanic figures” to do a film again after a long time.
It was also elaborated in the feature article the factors that should be noticed by the Oscars in the performance of Charo Santos.
“Diaz’s famed long takes help establish deeper emotional stakes, with the camera pinned to Renata’s facial expressions as they change slowly over time,” said in the article.
Also included in the long lists of the magazine’s snubbed performances by Oscars are Mexican-American star Salma Hayek for Beatriz at Dinner, Korean star Ahn Seo-hyun for Okja, English actor Robert Pattinson for Good Time, based on the PUSH article.
On the other hand, the said drama movie brought recognition to Santos’ co-star A-list actor John Lloyd Cruz.
Cruz, who played the role of Hollanda in the film, was previously ecstatic to share that he is among the nominees in Best Supporting Actor category for the 15th International Cinephile Society.
