“Crash Landing on You” finale achieved the highest rating in tvN history surpassing the “Goblin”.
The final broadcast of “Crash Landing on You” got an average rating of 21.683 percent and a peak rating of 24.1 percent nationwide, overtaking the record set by “Goblin” back in January 2017 who got a peak rating of 20.5 percent based on Nielsen Korea viewership rating.
According to Wikipedia, “Crash Landing on You” is now the second highest rated Korean drama in cable television history next to “Sky Castle” of JTBC which has a rating of 23.779%. “Sky Castle” is private luxury condo were mostly the residents were doctors and law school professors. The drama describes how the rich parents secure the success of their family at the expense of others.
“Crash Landing on You” has 16 episodes starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-Jin. It started airing on tvN and in Netflix from December 14, 2019 to February 16, 2020. It is a story of Yoon Se-Ri(Son Ye-Jin) an heiress in South Korea with a troubled family background and Ri Jeong-Hyeok(Hyun Bin) a North Korean Army officer. While paragliding Se-Ri accidentally landed in North Korea where she meets Jeong-Hyeok. He tried to protect and hide her and they eventually fall in love with each other.
The main actors and their supporting cast did an amazing job portraying their characters, which is the main reason for the success of the show. The drama series also involves cameos from notable stars like Jung Kyung Ho (as Cha Sang Woo, the ex-boyfriend of Se-Ri),Kim Soo Hyun ( a North Korean spy in episode 10), and Choi Ji Woo (an actress in episode 13).
