Jobert Sucaldito, a veteran entertainment columnist, recently shared that he reached out to renowned director Joel Lamangan to ask about the accusations made by actor Ahron Villena. Sucaldito disclosed this during an episode of his YouTube show, “Oras ng Opinyon, Talakayan at Diskusyon” (OOTD).
According to Sucaldito, Direk Joel confirmed that he was indeed the person Aaron was referring to in his allegations. The issue at hand revolved around a controversial incident where Lamangan allegedly placed a plaster on Ahron during a sensitive scene with actress Lovi Poe.
During their conversation, Direk Joel explained that he took it upon himself to ensure the plaster was securely in place, particularly because the scene involved intimate interactions with Lovi Poe. Lamangan asserted that his actions were meant to protect Ahron from the potential spread of misinformation that could have been initiated by a makeup artist. The director emphasized that he had no ill intentions and that his actions were devoid of any malice.
Joel Lamangan is a highly respected film and television director, actor, and scriptwriter in the Philippines. Known for his socially relevant works, Lamangan has directed some of the most critically acclaimed films in the country, including “The Flor Contemplacion Story” (1995), “Mano Po” (2002), and “Blue Moon” (2006). His films often tackle heavy themes and reflect the socio-political issues in the country.
The controversy involving Ahron and Direk Joel is part of a broader wave of accusations against various industry figures. This issue has sparked conversations, especially among younger actors, about alleged abuses by some writers, directors, and other individuals in the entertainment industry. The controversy gained momentum after Sandro Muhlach exposed two independent contractors of GMA Network, Jojo Nones, and Richard Cruz, who are currently facing charges filed by Muhlach. These allegations have opened a floodgate of stories, with more individuals coming forward to share their experiences of misconduct within the industry.
As the industry grapples with these revelations, the ongoing cases, including that of Muhlach’s, are being closely watched, with many hoping for justice and a safer working environment for all.
