The Disney-Pixas movie “Finding Dory” made history in the Philippines after it debuted strongly in the country in terms of box office earnings as it recorded P101.7 million ticket sales in only four (4) days. According to Walt Disney Studios Philippines, the record is the biggest opening weekend record for Disney-Pixas film.
During the opening day of the movie “Finding Dory” it made P10.3 million in box office income as it take the crown for the biggest first-day gross for any Walt Disney and Pixas movie.
The movie “Finding Dory” is the sequel to the 2003 box office animated movie “Finding Nemo,” arrived in local cinemas from different parts of the Philippines last June 16, 2016. Finding Dory featured Ellen DeGeneres who portrayed the role of the forgetful blue tang Dory. Aside from DeGeneres, the movie also featured the Albert Brooks (Marlin) and Hayden Rolence (Nemo)
Finding Dory tells the story of Dory, Marlin and Nemo but it focuses on the amnesiac fish Dory, and explores her journey to be reunited with her parents. Along the way, she was captured and taken to a California public aquarium, where Marlin and Nemo attempt to rescue her within.
The movie Finding Dory also featured some of the most popular voice artists in Hollywood namely Ed O’Neill as Hank; Kaitlin Olson as Destiny; Ty Burrell as Bailey; Diane Keaton as Jenny; Eugene Levy; and Idris Elba to name a few.
In the United States Finding Dory made a gigantic splash at the box office, landing the biggest domestic opening of all time for an animated title with $136.2 million from 4,305 theaters. It’s also the only animated movie to crack the overall list of top 20 openings, ranking No. 18.
