Kamikazee Fully Received 1.8 Million Pesos Before Cancellation of Sorsogon Show?

The talent fee for Kamikazee in Sorsogon is reportedly 1.8 million pesos

KAMIKAZEE – The Filipino rock band is currently causing a stir online after being barred from performing in Sorsogon.

Kamikazee is a Filipino rock band formed in 2000, originally a quintet but expanded to a seven-member ensemble. Their music combines pop-punk and hardcore punk. The band had a temporary reunion in 2015 and officially entered an indefinite hiatus in 2016. However, they reunited in 2017 and have been touring since then. They have released several studio albums, with “Maharot” and “Romantico” being notable successes. Kamikazee has also collaborated with other Filipino bands like Parokya ni Edgar. In addition to their music career, the band has been involved in commercial endorsements and has won various awards for their work.

The Filipino rock band is currently gaining attention online after being prevented from performing in Sorsogon. They were originally scheduled to perform during the Kasanggayahan Festival in Casiguran, Sorsogon on Sunday, October 1, 2023. However, Governor Edwin “Boboy” Hamor stated that they had decided not to allow the group to perform.

The band was instructed to leave and was not even accommodated at the Recidencia Del Hamor hotel, where they were supposed to stay. They were then taken to the airport, where they spent the morning. Governor Hamor did not disclose what Kamikazee had done, but according to him, they were disrespectful.

However, according to a source from Tribuna, a Sorsogon-based newspaper, the band allegedly made fun of the governor, referring to him as a “driver” for always wearing white. The source added that Kamikazee refused to have their picture taken with 16,000 blue roses and declined to use the public restroom.

Amid the issue, some netizens claimed that Kamikazee was paid 1.8 million pesos for the scheduled show.
