Kathryn Bernardo Believes in Second Chances

Outstanding Asian Star awardee Kathryn Bernardo expressed her views on the concept of second chances during a press conference for her latest film, Hello, Love, Again, held on Thursday, October 17. Bernardo emphasized that everyone longs for another opportunity to make things right in life.

“We all hope for a second chance, definitely. Lahat tayo tao lang, human beings. Even ako sa sarili ko, alam ko na magkakamali at magkakamali ako. Makaka-disappoint ako ng tao whether it’s intentional or unintentional,” Kathryn shared during the event.

Bernardo acknowledged that she herself would deeply appreciate a second chance if given the opportunity. “Personally, I would do anything to be given that second chance, that opportunity to correct my wrongdoings, to rebuild relationships, and maybe to regain trust,” she added, highlighting the importance of redemption and making amends in relationships.

However, Kathryn also recognized that people’s perspectives on second chances vary, and she respects these differences. “Some people can give a second chance, like Tisoy [referring to Alden Richards], some can give multiple chances, and some won’t—and that’s okay. We have to respect that because we are all different,” she noted.

For Kathryn, second chances are not a requirement but rather a personal choice. “It’s a choice and it’s a gift,” she said, emphasizing that extending forgiveness or another opportunity to someone is an act of generosity, not obligation.

This is not the first time Kathryn has spoken about second chances. After her much-publicized breakup with longtime partner Daniel Padilla in November 2023, netizens revisited an old interview she gave on Umagang Kay Ganda about second chances. Her earlier statements have resurfaced, reminding fans of her steadfast belief in the importance of giving people the opportunity to redeem themselves.

Kathryn’s reflections on the subject resonate with many, particularly as she continues to portray strong, relatable characters in her films. Her comments underscore the complexity of human relationships and the nuances involved in forgiveness and personal growth.
