The Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters of the Philippines, Inc. (KSMBPI) filed cases against artists affiliated with Vivamax, including AJ Raval, Ayanna Misola, and Azi Acosta, for violating the Cybercrime Law, particularly related to “obscene publication” by these actresses. Additionally, they also lodged a legal case against Angeli Khang due to an unpleasant video clip from one of her movies on Vivamax that she posted on her Facebook account.
The KSMBPI, the same group that previously raised complaints against TV hosts Vice Ganda, Ion Perez, and vlogger Toni Fowler concerning cybercrime cases, submitted cases against Raval, Misola, and Acosta at the Pasay City Prosecutors Office on Tuesday, October 17.
Under the Cybercrime Law, “obscene publication” is one of the offenses, and it provides measures to protect citizens from undesirable content on the internet. Viral videos and posts containing obscenity can have negative effects on viewers and society as a whole.
This is not the first time controversies have arisen regarding content on social media, particularly involving popular artists and personalities. KSMBPI continues to seek actions to hold wrongdoers accountable for these legal violations.
As artists affiliated with Vivamax, AJ Raval, Ayanna Misola, Azi Acosta, and Angeli Khang are well-known for their performances in movies and various projects. However, their involvement in cybercrime cases underscores the importance of being responsible for using social media and the internet in general.
While the cases are still under investigation and before the courts, it is crucial to remember that everyone has the right to a fair hearing and an opportunity to defend themselves. KSMBPI, through its actions, demonstrates its commitment to maintaining the excellence and integrity of social media broadcasting in the Philippines and continues to uphold these principles. Source
