Award-winning actor Jiro Manio demonstrated his irrevocable decision to sell one of his trophies to Pinoy Pawnstars. According to him, he is completely content with his choice.
Jiro sold his Urian Best Actor trophy for P75,000. Initially, the 31-year-old actor offered his trophy for P500,000. He earned this prestigious award from the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino for the film “Magnifico” in 204.
“Sabi ng utol ko magpapatayo ka raw ng museum. Sana mapabilang ako roon na dating artista na nakatanggap ng award,,” Jiro stated to Boss Toyo.
Currently, Jiro is not active in showbiz as he is focused on his work at the Department of Health rehabilitation center in Bataan, where he provides advice and counseling.
Jiro lives with his two daughters in San Mateo, Rizal. His household also includes his grandfather and cousins.
Jiro started his career as an actor at the age of six. He became the breadwinner for his family when his mother fell ill and passed away in 2007. Reports say that Jiro struggled with drug addiction at the age of 15, but he mentioned that it is now part of his past.
A talent scout discovered Jiro in San Juan, where he grew up. His biggest break came on television through the anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”
During the peak of his career, Jiro also earned millions. “Lahat ng kinita ko may naipundar naman ako para sa pamilya ko. Napabisyo rin ako.”
Boss Toyo expressed admiration for Jiro as a great actor. He also offered to provide counseling in Bataan soon.
Before leaving, Jiro signed the trophy, affirming that its sale was not just an ordinary transaction but a step towards a new chapter in his life.
