Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, and Luis Manzano Deny “Power Couple” Rumors

Marian Rivera has firmly denied online speculation claiming that she and her husband, actor Dingdong Dantes, are the “power couple” at the center of a viral blind item alleging serious marital problems and infidelity.

The rumor first circulated on Facebook, where a blind item described an unnamed celebrity couple whose marriage was allegedly falling apart due to the husband’s supposed unfaithfulness. Curious netizens quickly began guessing the couple’s identity, with many pointing to Rivera and Dantes because of their status as one of the most prominent celebrity couples in the Philippines.

Rivera addressed the issue through entertainment columnist Rose Garcia, who revealed the actress’s reaction during the January 8 episode of the online show “Marites University.”

“Ni-message ko si Yan (Marian). Sabi ko, ‘I’m sure aware ka sa blind item kung saan sa comments section kayong dalawa ni Dong ang binabanggit,’” Garcia shared.

Garcia said Rivera immediately called her, checked in, and reassured her about the issue. She even showed a photo of Rivera and Dantes smiling closely together while they were talking — taken during their son Sixto’s football practice.

“Sabi niya, ‘Ate, jusme. Ano ba ‘yang mga blind item na ‘yan?’” Garcia added. According to Rivera, such rumors have become almost routine for them, particularly during the start of every year. “Parang every year, lalo na raw ‘pag January, palaging may ganyang chika.”

Just days before the rumor gained traction, Rivera and Dantes had also shared photos of themselves working out together, reinforcing the image of a couple spending quality time and supporting each other.

Meanwhile, another celebrity pair also found themselves dragged into the speculation. TV host and actor Luis Manzano publicly denied claims that he and his wife, actress Jessy Mendiola, were the so-called troubled “power couple.”

The rumor was further fueled by entertainment personality AltIndayBadiday on X (formerly Twitter), who asked followers to guess the couple’s identity and even directly tagged Manzano in the post.

“SİNO BA KASI İTONG ‘POWER COUPLE’ NA ITO? … Kasama rin sa iniintriga si Luis Manzano @luckymanzano at Jessy Mendiola. How true Kuya Luis?” the post read.

Manzano quickly dismissed the speculation with humor, replying, “Sleep lang po ako, di po kami,” followed by laughing emojis.

Both couples’ responses have been met with support from fans, many of whom expressed frustration over the continued spread of unverified blind items that often create unnecessary drama. Observers also pointed out how such rumors resurface regularly, especially at the beginning of the year when online gossip tends to spike.

For Rivera and Dantes, their calm, united reaction — coupled with their visible closeness in recent photos — sends a clear message: their marriage remains strong, and the latest blind item holds no truth.
