Director Jose Enrique said Thursday that “Metamorphosis” was reclassified to R-16 from rated X by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) without cuts.
This movie became one of the eight official entries for the 2019 Cinema One Originals film festival.
“Nagtagumpay tayong palayain ang paruparo! From X rating to R-16 (16yo above are allowed to watch the film)! And we promise you that NOTHING has been compromised– no shots or scenes have been cut,” Jose Enrique, the director of the said film, said on Twitter. “Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nag-ingay at narinig nila tayo!“
MTRCB chair Rachel Arenas said in an interview with Inquirer.net that the first set of board members who have reviewed and rated as “Rated X” found that it’s not suitable for public presentation due to “prolonged exposure of the private parts“.
“I was happy naman, every time kasi they review, we have to review it as a whole picture, not just a part,” Arenas said. “Hindi porket they saw a genital ganito ganyan, they would base their classification on that part alone e. Kailangan ‘yung buong storya yung nirereview niya.”
“Metamorphosis” will be competing with other entries for this year’s Cinema One Originals film festival. Other entries for the said film festival were: Yours Truly Shirley, Lucid, O, Sila Sila, Tayo Muna Habang Hindi Pa Tayo, Tia Madre, and Utopia.
