Recently, the organizers of the Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador issued an apology following a controversial incident in the announcement of the Top 5 candidates during the coronation night. In their statement on social media, the organizers confirmed that they made an error in the graphics of the announcement, which was promptly rectified.
“Our mistake! In our eagerness to post quickly while it was live, we accidentally swapped the names of two finalists,” the organizers stated.
On the night of the coronation, netizens quickly noticed the swiftly deleted post from the Miss Universe El Salvador account, which included Michelle Dee of the Philippines in the Top 5. This was immediately replaced by a graphics card featuring Thailand’s Anntonia Porsild, who ultimately became the first runner-up.
According to Miss Universe El Salvador, “This was a simple mistake due to our desire to be fast.”
“We heard the results live just like all of you, no special access here! We apologize to both finalists,” they added.
In a declaration, the organization explained that they only wanted to expedite the review and posting of the results but acknowledged their shortcomings. The correction in the graphics also demonstrated their dedication to rectifying the mistake.
Despite this controversy, Miss Universe El Salvador sought the understanding of the viewers and promised better preparation for the coming years of the competition. They also recognized the talent and excellence of all participants, especially the winner, Anntonia Porsild of Thailand.
This incident serves as a reminder that despite efforts and plans, unexpected events may occur. Accepting responsibility and apologizing for any mistakes are crucial. It is a lesson that can lead to growth and a greater appreciation for the integrity of a competition.
