The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 culminated on Friday with its much-anticipated Gabi ng Parangal held at the Solaire Resort in Parañaque City. The event honored the best of Philippine cinema, showcasing an impressive array of films, performances, and technical achievements.
Topping the awards night was “Green Bones”, a collaboration between GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, which took home the coveted Best Picture award. The drama film proved to be a standout, also clinching several other major awards, including Best Actor for Dennis Trillo, Best Supporting Actor for Ruru Madrid, Best Screenplay for Ricky Lee and Angeli Atienza, Best Cinematography for Neil Daza, and Best Child Performer for Sienna Stevens.
Meanwhile, “The Kingdom” was named 2nd Best Picture and won various accolades such as Best Director, Best Production Design, Best Visual Effects, and the Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award. Directed by Michael Tuviera, the film’s innovative storytelling and visual artistry resonated with audiences and critics alike.
Securing the 3rd Best Picture award was “My Future You”, which also brought home awards for Best Director (shared by Crisanto Aquino), Breakthrough Performance for Seth Fedelin, and Best Editing for Vanessa Ubas De Leon.
“Isang Himala”, a poignant drama led by Aicelle Santos, was named 4th Best Picture. The film received the Special Jury Prize, alongside notable wins for Best Supporting Actress (Kakki Teodoro), Best Original Theme Song (“Ang Himala ay Nasa Puso” by Juan Karlos), and Best Musical Score (Vincent De Jesus).
