The statement released by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) on social media on October 29 came in response to a satirical X (formerly Twitter) account named “Anima Cristi Fermin,” which falsely claimed that Vice was summoned by the regulatory board due to her way of eating fried chicken in an advertisement. As of now, the post has garnered 2.7 million views and 25,000 likes.

“The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) refutes social media posts alleging that the Board has summoned a popular celebrity who recently appeared in a TV commercial for a fast-food chain. Such accusations are malicious and untrue,” the MTRCB stated in their release.

The government agency, chaired by Lala Sotto, also expressed its support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the efforts of the Presidential Communications Office (PCOO) to combat disinformation and misinformation.
