The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is set to summon Jam Ignacio, the fiancé of DJ and social media influencer Jellie Aw, in connection with allegations of physical abuse. NBI Director Jaime Santiago stated that while the incident initially warranted a hot pursuit, the current approach involves issuing a subpoena through the Violence Against Women and Children Division (VAWCD) for Ignacio to surrender and provide a statement.
The allegations surfaced after DJ Jellie Aw shared images of her injuries online, claiming she nearly lost her life due to the assault. According to Aw, the confrontation began after an outing with friends, including a fellow DJ whom Ignacio was reportedly jealous of.
“Pinagselosan niya po ‘yung ka co-DJ ko na bakit ko raw parang bineso, niyakap ko raw. Ang ginawa ko po kasi nung nakita ko siya, parang hug po na pa-beso. Ganun po kasi kaming lahat sa work namin. Kumbaga sa amin, wala lang naman po ‘yun,” Aw explained.
She further described Ignacio’s intense jealousy, noting that even minor interactions at her workplace could trigger his anger. “Sobrang seloso po kasi kahit maliit na bagay, talagang pinapalaki niya. Kahit po sa work ko, kapag may kumakaway sa akin sa gig, nagagalit siya,” she added.
The situation escalated during their drive home, where Ignacio allegedly began assaulting Aw inside the vehicle, inflicting injuries to her head, eyes, ears, and neck. Aw couldn’t determine the duration of the attack but managed to seek assistance when their RFID malfunctioned at a toll gate.
“Hindi nagbukas kaagad ‘yung barriers ng toll gate kaya nakapag-open siya ng window at sumigaw siya ng tulong. Nakatakbo siya, kaya tinulungan siya,” recounted Atty. Yehlen Agus, chief of the NBI VAWCD.
Agus added that Ignacio fled the scene, allowing Aw to use the car to reach a hospital for medical attention.
The NBI’s involvement underscores the severity of the allegations, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to addressing cases of violence against women. The upcoming subpoena signifies a crucial step in the investigation, aiming to gather comprehensive statements from both parties involved.
