Pen Pineapple Apple Pen (PPAP) In Billboard 100
The famous and catchy Pen Pineapple Apple Pen (PPAP) debuted in the prestigious US Billboard Top 100 Singles at the 77th spot.
The said song released by Japanese comedian Piko Taro has become viral after it was posted on YouTube. Now, it already made a groundbreaking record becoming the “shortest song” on the American weekly charts.
PPAP only lasts for 45 seconds which surpassed The Womenfolk’s “Little Boxes,” which just lasted for one minute and two seconds which was placed in the 83rd place in 1964.
PPPA is now available on Spotify and iTunes.
According to a report, Piko-Taro composed the song in one seating and based the lyrics on the first English phrases being taught to Japanese students (e.g. “this is a pen” and “this is an apple”).
The music video uploaded on YouTube last August 25, 2016. After that, there are already more than 111 million views on YouTube and still counting.
Piko Taro, the famous character in yellow and gold animal print clothes, was actually portrayed by the 43-year-old comedian and DJ Daimaou Kosaka, who has a real name of Kazuhito Kosaka.
The report added that Kozako was native of Aomori City, and was also the founder of the comedy group called “No Bottom”.
Meanwhile, a lot of people are still thinking about the real meaning of the song or if that really has a meaning at all.
The lyrics of the PPAP goes this way.
“PPAP
I have a pen. I have an Apple. Ugh!
Apple pen!
I have a pen. I have pineapple. Ugh!
Pineapple pen!
Apple pen! Pineapple pen! Ugh!
Pen Pineapple Apple Pen!
Pen Pineapple Apple Pen!”
Now, Piko Taro released another video that now has more than 7 million views on YouTube entitled “Neo Sunglasses.”
