Many people are allegedly calling for the cancellation of “It’s Showtime,” according to MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto. MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto admitted this during the discussion of the 2024 proposed budget for the agency.
Despite the criticisms directed at the agency, it is said that they have also received support, with some stating that the 12-day suspension imposed on the noontime show is insufficient. They argue that the show itself should be suspended, citing the incident involving the actions of the couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez in the “Isip Bata” segment of “It’s Showtime.” Some have even claimed that the 12-day suspension is inadequate.
MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto also clarified once again that she did not vote in the said decision, but the committee’s decision remained anonymous. The suspension has become controversial due to Lala Sotto’s connection to the rival show “It’s Showtime,” “E.A.T.,” where her father, Tito Sotto, her uncle Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon are pillars of the program.
