Pia Wurtzbach does not go against the hosting of the controversial Steve Harvey of Miss Universe 2017.
Despite the mistake committed by the controversial host Steve Harvey during the hosting of Miss Universe last December 2016, the reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach does not oppose on the duty Harvey will fulfill in January 2017.
The organizers of Miss U 2017 confirmed Harvey will be the host of the pageant in January because he still has three years contract left in the organization.
President Rodrigo Duterte has negative comments when he knew Harvey is the host of the pageant.
Harvey committed a major blunder when he announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo as the wrong winner.
Everybody watching throughout the world was shocked when the crown was then taken from Arevalo’s head and placed on Wurtzbach, the rightful winner.
Still, Wurtzbach has no qualms about Harvey hosting the next coronation night.
Wurtzbach posted on Twitter about her sentiments on the Miss Universe 2017, particularly about Harvey.
In a tweet early Friday, Wurtzbach said: “#TBT to the night that changed my life. @IAmSteveHarvey let’s do it again and change someone else’s life.”
Wurtzbach posted a throwback photo of her with the host during her own coronation night in USA in December 2015.
On Thursday, Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo said that Duterte expressed concern upon finding out that the American comedian will once again host the Miss Universe 2017 pageant.
“When I told the President about that, negative agad ang sabi niya: ‘Hindi pwede.’ That was what he said. And he said: ‘I’m going to talk to the Miss Universe na dapat hindi siya.’ So, that’s my problem,” Teo said.
“That’s what he told me during our meeting with him, ‘I’m going to talk to Miss Universe because I don’t want him to be the host of the Miss Universe,'” she repeated.
Teo told the President that Harvey has a contract with the Miss Universe Organization, so what may instead be done is he will be given a Filipina co-host.
In January, the pre-pageant activities will be held in various areas in the Philippines, including Davao, Iloilo, Cebu, and Vigan but the coronation night will be held at SM Mall of Asia Arena on January 30.
