The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday provided a strategic update on the ongoing investigation into the death of freelance model and Vivamax talent Gina Lima, emphasizing that early autopsy results show no indication that she died from physical assault. This clarification comes as online discourse has surged with allegations that Lima had been beaten before her passing.

In a press briefing, QCPD spokesperson Police Major Jennifer Gannaban affirmed that the medical examination did not support claims of fatal injuries. When asked whether the autopsy suggested Lima did not die from a beating, Gannaban confirmed, “Yes po, parang ganun po ’yung sinasabi nitong medical examination.”
She outlined that the medico-legal findings showed non-fatal external injuries, coupled with signs of heart congestion and congested lungs. These observations, however, are not sufficient to establish the exact cause of death. The police are still awaiting the toxicology report, which is expected to be a key driver in the investigative roadmap.
Gannaban underscored that the bruises found on Lima’s thigh were not life-threatening. “Ibig sabihin, non-fatal… kailangan antayin din po natin ’yung resulta ng toxicology examination,” she added, highlighting that full clarity will hinge on chemical analysis results.
QCPD also disclosed that tablets and marijuana kush were recovered at the scene, adding another layer of complexity to the case analysis. According to investigators, Lima and her ex-boyfriend had a drinking session at her condominium unit on November 15, continued hanging out at his residence the following day, and eventually returned to her unit around noon. The ex-boyfriend reportedly woke up around 8 p.m. to find Lima unresponsive, prompting him to call his father and rush her to Quezon City General Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The case circulated widely online after claims surfaced that the ex-boyfriend had harmed Lima. But QCPD clarified that he was considered a witness, not a person of interest. Police said he had earlier denied any knowledge of the bruises found on Lima.
In a sudden and unexpected development, QCPD confirmed that Lima’s ex-boyfriend also died on Wednesday morning. He was brought to the same hospital and declared dead on arrival at 7 a.m.
Despite this twist, Lima’s family has aligned on moving forward with the investigation, signaling continued coordination with authorities as they push for full clarity and closure.
