After almost a year in detention, actor Ricardo Cepeda, whose real name is Richard Cesar Go, has finally been released on bail. The actor was imprisoned in October 2023 due to charges of alleged syndicated estafa, a serious offense under Philippine law. His long-time partner, actress-model Marina Benipayo, confirmed his release on social media on Thursday, September 19.
Benipayo shared a heartwarming video of her and Cepeda dancing casually in what appeared to be their family home. Although she did not clarify whether the video was recent or a throwback in anticipation of Cepeda’s return, her caption expressed her joy over his homecoming: “#11months and finally, he’s going home! God is Good! Thank you, everyone, for your prayers #ricardocepeda #life #love #family #lifegoeson.”
The case against Cepeda began when he was arrested in Caloocan City in October 2023. The actor faced charges related to syndicated estafa, a crime involving fraudulent financial schemes that typically target multiple victims. At the time of his arrest, there were over 40 complaints against the company he was associated with, though the authorities from the CIDU-QCPD could not specify the exact amount of the alleged scam.
Throughout his legal battle, Cepeda has maintained his innocence, asserting that he was merely an endorser for the company at the center of the complaints. He clarified that his role was limited to promoting energy-saving products, and he had no direct involvement in the company’s operations or its financial activities. He emphasized that he was not part of the business and had no knowledge of any fraudulent dealings.
When Cepeda was taken into custody, he initially argued with the police but eventually complied peacefully. Since then, his case has garnered public attention, particularly due to the number of complaints and the nature of the allegations.

As Cepeda adjusts to life outside detention, the case against him continues. Despite his release on bail, the actor still faces multiple charges. However, his long-awaited homecoming offers a moment of relief for him and his loved ones as they prepare for the next phase of his legal battle.
