Robin Padilla could not stop thanking President Duterte for the absolute pardon granted to him during their meeting at the Malacañang Palace.
Robin Padilla expressed his gratitude and thanks to President Rodrigo Duterte after granting him absolute pardon during their meeting at the Malacañang Palace on November 16, Tuesday.
With the grant of an absolute pardon, the political and civil rights of the actor have been restored, and would make him eligible to get a visa to the United States so he can be with his wife, Mariel, and their newborn baby girl.
Duterte, after granting the absolute pardon, told the reporters: “He had suffered enough, I think. Kung bitawan mo naman iyong tao sa labas, given him the rights [like] makaboto, maka-travel, whatever (if you free the person, give him the right to vote and to travel)”.
After he had been granted absolute pardon, Robin could not stop thanking President Duterte for restoring his political and civil rights saying “Ang tanging pangarap ng aking asawang si Mariel Rodriguez Padilla ay maging parehas ang birthday namin ni Maria Isabella at dahil po sa inyo mahal na Pangulo ay nagkatotoo ito (The only wish of my wife, Mariel Rodriguez Padilla, is for me and our daughter, Maria Isabella, to have the same birth date. And because of you, our dear President, my wish came true)”.
“Literally.. I am born again”, Robin added, who meant that the granting of pardon had given him hope again.
“Ika-15 ng Nobyembre ipinanganak muli ang aking kalayaan mula sa sinapupunan ng rebolusyon ng aking Pangulo (The 15th of November is when I am born again from the womb of revolution of my President)”, Robin captioned his Instagram post.
Mariel gave birth to their first baby, Maria Isabella, in the United States on November 14, Monday, without having Robin by her side because of his failure to get a US visa.
