Amid the grief of losing her husband, actress and comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto has made an emotional appeal to vloggers and social media influencers: refrain from using her family’s tragedy for views and online engagement.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Rufa Mae confirmed the death of her husband, Trevor Magallanes, who passed away unexpectedly in the U.S. on July 31. She expressed her gratitude to everyone who sent messages of sympathy, but also asked for space and respect during this painful time.
“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagpadala ng mensahe ng pakikiramay. As we cautiously navigate through this emotionally difficult period in our lives, we would appreciate discretion from everyone,” she wrote.
Without directly naming individuals, Rufa Mae criticized those who have been circulating unverified or speculative information online regarding Trevor’s passing. She urged creators not to exploit the tragic event for content or clout.
“Nakikiusap ako na huwag naman po ninyong gamitin ang pangyayaring ito para magkaroon lamang kayo ng content,” she stated.
Rufa Mae clarified that, as Trevor’s legal wife, she alone holds the authority to release accurate information regarding his death. She promised to speak further about it in due time.
“As the wife of Trev, all information surrounding his passing will come from me. Ang lahat ng detalye ay maaari ko lang maibigay sa tamang oras,” she said.
She also made a heartfelt plea on behalf of their daughter, Athena, who could come across misleading or insensitive posts online. Rufa Mae stressed the importance of protecting their child’s emotional well-being.
“For the sake of our daughter, Athena, please refrain from spreading unverified information that she can access through social media. Let us just remember the good times that we had with my husband, Trev.”
Although the couple separated in late 2024, they remained legally married. Their split was first made public by Trevor through social media, and later acknowledged by Rufa Mae in an interview with Boy Abunda.
Now, as a grieving wife and mother, Rufa Mae is navigating this unexpected loss in the public eye—while urging people to show compassion and restraint.
