Diaz also emphasized that resolving conflicts doesn’t always require going to court, stating, “Hindi naman sa korte lang lagi ang lugar para ipaglaban ang karapatan at katotohanan. Pwede namang mag-usap nang puso-sa-puso. Hanggang sa pairalin ang pagpapatawad.” He further highlighted the importance of forgiveness, especially when there is a history of relationship and respect involved.

A statement from Pangilinan’s office, acquired by ABS-CBN, confirmed that the parties had reached a settlement through a “mediation procedure” before the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148. Pangilinan’s lawyer, Maria Fricela Kim, noted that the couple decided to permanently desist from pursuing the case. “Since the prosecution cannot proceed without the cooperation of the private complainants, Judge ruled that the case is dismissed for lack of evidence and Fermin is found not guilty,” she said.

Reflecting on the resolution, Pangilinan expressed their satisfaction with the outcome. He shared that they were “happy” to move forward and put the matter behind them, allowing them to focus on more positive things.

The legal saga began when Cuneta and Pangilinan filed a cyber libel complaint against Fermin. The case stemmed from the entertainment columnist’s public remarks about Cuneta and her daughter, KC Concepcion. Fermin had discussed the strained relationship between the two women, claiming that it was caused by Concepcion’s misplacing one of Cuneta’s valuable possessions. According to Fermin, the item had been pawned by Concepcion without Cuneta’s consent, which led to further tension between them.

Fermin’s public comments also drew attention to Cuneta and Pangilinan’s lack of birthday greetings for Concepcion, fueling speculation about their personal lives. However, Fermin later clarified that she was merely reporting information and asked the public to understand her role as a journalist. She also emphasized the importance of not “shooting the messenger.”

On June 28, 2025, Fermin posted an apology on her YouTube channel, admitting that she had hurt Cuneta’s feelings. She acknowledged her mistakes, explaining, “Ang pagpapakumbaba po ay hindi ibig sabihin na duwag tayo,” and expressed regret over the situation. Fermin also mentioned the emotional toll the lawsuit had on Cuneta, stating, “Umiiyak siya nung sinampa niya ‘yun, at sinabi niya, ‘Ayoko pong gawin ito dahil mahal ko ‘yung tao.'”

This heartfelt apology, paired with the legal resolution, marks a new chapter in the relationship between Fermin, Cuneta, and Pangilinan, showing that even in the face of controversy, reconciliation is possible.
