A poignant moment unfolded in the life of Liza Dino Seguerra as she held her father’s hand while he lay in the hospital, connected to various medical devices. Martin Diño, a known Duterte supporter, had previously served as the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) undersecretary during President Rodrigo Duterte’s term. Prior to his DILG appointment, Diño had chaired the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and had been at the helm of the Violence Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) organization. He had also been a prominent bearer of the PDP-Laban during the presidential elections.
Martin Diño valiantly battled stage 4 cancer, demonstrating immense strength in his fight against the disease. “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Martin Diño, Former Undersecretary of the DILG. ‘Bobot,’ as he is fondly called, peacefully died at 2:15 am on August 8, 2023, surrounded by his family,” shared Diño-Seguerra on Facebook. Martin Diño was not only a loving husband, father, and friend, but also a dedicated public servant.
Liza Diño Seguerra, was appointed to a governmental role during the Duterte administration, serving as the chairperson of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP). She is married to Aiza Seguerra, a former child star turned singer-composer, who has recently changed their name to Ice Seguerra.
Ice Seguerra herself also held the position of Chairperson of the National Youth Commission in 2016, again under the Duterte administration.
Martin Diño also became the subject of controversy after his brother-in-law, Emmanuel Bautista, was apprehended in a buy-bust operation in Marikina on November 23, 2018. Emmanuel Bautista was 52 years old at the time.
As of now, there are no details available regarding the funeral arrangements for Martin Diño.
