Celebrity car racer and vlogger Angie Mead King narrowly escaped a dangerous incident after her modified red Acura NSX caught fire on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), near the Southwoods exit, while she was driving toward Metro Manila. The dramatic incident, which occurred unexpectedly, left the rear end and roof of her sports car completely engulfed in flames. Angie shared a video of the incident on social media, showing the car consumed by fire and recounting her experience.
In the video, Angie is seen initially enjoying her drive before the unexpected flames erupt, catching her off guard. “F*ck! This is such a crazy experience,” she exclaimed as the flames spread rapidly. “The car is dead. It’s literally gone. Caught on fire after the exit. It’s gone. No words.”
Emergency responders, including Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) officers, quickly arrived at the scene to assist. The responders attempted to open the car’s hood to assess the fire, but the vehicle was already too damaged. Angie, fortunately, managed to escape with only minor discomfort, saying, “My lungs hurt. The car caught on fire while I was driving, and then the car dropped down and basically burst into flames.”
Angie shared that her Acura NSX had undergone recent modifications but was unsure of the exact cause of the fire. “I don’t know exactly what happened, but the car’s modified,” she explained. She confirmed that the damage was beyond repair, adding, “There’s no way to rebuild it. The rear chassis is completely burned. The engine looks… the metal’s probably warped because the flames were intense.”
Following the incident, the car was towed to Susanna Heights, and Angie went to the police station to submit paperwork related to the accident. Expressing gratitude, she acknowledged the support from fans and followers who reached out after seeing the video. Despite the tragic loss of her prized vehicle, Angie’s focus remained on her safety and well-being.
The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of road accidents, even for experienced drivers. Angie’s close escape underscores the importance of quick thinking and the support of first responders in managing sudden vehicle emergencies.
