The PNP Internal Affairs Service confirmed that 174 policemen were tested positive for drug use.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is going to dismiss the policemen who tested positive for use of illegal drugs.
According to PNP Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, he has just received a test message from the PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS) that 174 policemen obtained positive results for use of prohibited drugs after undergoing drug test.
General Dela Rosa said that the PNP organization is more than willing to dismiss from their roster the policemen who will be proven using prohibited substances.
He also warned that he is going to block all the applications of policemen who will try to apply for reinstatement after dismissal.
The PNP Chief emphasized that the police who will be tested positive for illegal drugs are not deserving to be a part of the PNP organization.
But General Dela Rosa said that those who will be included to be removed from the roster may make an appeal to the National Appellate Board and the Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Out of the 174 policemen who tested positive, 167 are uniformed while seven are non-uniformed personnel.
The results of the drug test of the policemen undergone the examination by the PNP Crime Laboratory and National Reference Laboratory.
General dela Rosa, after turning emotional in the Senate inquiry on the killing of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa on Wednesday, vowed that he shall have “no mercy” for all the policemen involved in illegal drugs, particularly those named by the hearing’s resource person and son of the slain local chief executive, Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa Jr.
Dela Rosa explained that he could not hold his emotions anymore because after giving a lot of warning to his erring men, they seem to be not listening.
“If they continue to do their illegal activities, then they do not deserve mercy. These people need no mercy”.
