Village Isolated In China After Patient Dies Due To Bubonic Plague
VILLAGE ISOLATED IN CHINA – Following the recent death of a patient caused by the bubonic plague, Suji Xincun, in Inner Mongolia was placed under lockdown.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic that has affected millions, China is facing an emerging disease – the bubonic plague. As such, Suji Xincun and its residents are now conducting daily disinfections.
Concerningly, where the patient contracted the disease has yet to be known. However, officials from neighboring cities have stated that none of their residents have contracted the disease as of yet.
Meanwhile, according to an article from LadBible, the Baotou Municipal Health Commission stated that nine people who came into contact with the village were placed under quarantine. Furthermore, the 26 secondary contacts of the patients were also isolated. Luckily, the tests for the bubonic plague came back negative for all of those under quarantine.
In lieu of the recent death and the potential outbreak of the disease, health authorities have issued a level 3 warning. But, this would just be the second-lowest in a four level warning system.
As per the article, the authorities said:
“Experts remind the general public: you should maintain good personal hygiene habits, try to avoid going to epidemic areas and spots, and if you have fever, cough and other related symptoms, you should go to the designated medical institution in time“
Moreover, residents who bare symptoms such as fever, cough, lymph node pain, hemoptysis, or bleeding were urged to seek immediate medical attention.
The bubonic plague is contracted through fleabites and infected animals. As such, authorities began to conduct flea and rodent control initiatives. Meanwhile, health experts emphasized that because the plague was a historical disease, there are more ways to prevent and treat it.
