Catherine Joy Marin, the Miss Philippines-Water 2015 from Bago City, Negros Occidental win “Tawag ng Tanghalan” on “It’s Showtime”.
Bago City’s pride, Miss Philippines-Water 2015, Catherine Joy Marin has once again brought pride to her city bringing the crown as the newest “Tawag ng Tanghalan” on “It’s Showtime” champion.
Yesterday, Marin had joined the “It’s Showtime” singing competition, “Tawag ng Tanghalan” to follow her passion for music. She also works as a freelance host, following her win in the Miss Philippines in 2015.
During the elimination round, Marin sang her own rendition of Adele’s “Someone Like You” which made the judges and the audience overwhelmed. She then performed Beyonce’s “Halo”. The beauty queen defeated one-day defending champion Meliton Talaba, singing “Bulong ng Damdamin”.
Marin gained a total score of 91.2% against the defending champion who got 91% in average. The newest defending champion will be facing again in stage to defend her title today. The aspirant must continually defend her title as the defending champion to proceed to the semi-finals of the competition.
The show made the grand comeback of the classic singing contest “Tawag ng Tanghalan” giving rise to today’s OPM legends. Nora Aunor, Pepe Pimentel and Bobot Mortiz have started out as contenders in the said contest. It continually calls for new talents from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and Metro Manila to find the country’s next singing superstar.
OPM icons Rey Valera and Rico J. Puno, as well as Edgar, Nyoy Volante and Yeng Constantino were appointed judges of the competition. Other jurors are Karylle Tatlonghari-Yuzon, Mitoy Yonting, Karla Estrada and K Brosas.
