Behind Olympics’ Great Swimmer Is A Filipina Nanny
Joseph Schooling grew and was supported by his Filipina nanny.
Maybe it is true that nothing beats the loving care of a Filipina nanny. If not to all, atleast, it is true to Joseph Isaac Schooling, the swimmer who plunged America’s great, Michael Phelps, out of the Olympic swimming pool.
Schooling became instantly popular worldwide on Saturday after beating Phelps and winning the first Olympic gold medal for Singapore.
But aside from the pride and honor Schooling has brought to his family and country, there is someone he has made very, very proud.
Filipinos might have been traumatized by the name, Yolanda, because of the Typhoon Haiyan which devasted a large part of the Visayas. But to Schooling, Yolanda is someone very special.
Auntie Yolly, a Filipina, has been young Joseph’s comforting arms whenever his parents were not home. They have been together for 19 years and Joseph calls her his second mom.
