A cabinet secretary explained that the president was only joking when he likened himself to Adolf Hitler.
Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco emphasized that President Rodrigo Duterte was only joking when he said that if Adolf Hitler could kill three million Jews, he would also gladly get rid of three million drug addicts in the Philippines.
According to Sec. Evasco, Duterte was obviously joking while making the statement, unlike the way his words are being construed as of now.
The president’s likening himself to Hitler also gained criticisms from the German and Jewish community after learning that the Philippines’ executive officer has compared his campaign against illegal drugs to the genocide of the Nazi Germany by Hitler’s command.
The Malacañan Palace earlier made the clarification that Duterte was only answering the comparisons that some people make between him and Hitler who ordered Holocaust to get rid of Jews during his time.
According to Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella, what Duterte has made was an oblique or slight way to answer for comparing his war against drugs to Hitler’s annihilation plot.
