China joins the Philippines in its efforts to attain peace across the archipelago.
China is confident that the Philippines is near to achieving long and lasting peace under the leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a statement, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said, China is one with the Philippines in combating all forms of terrorism and atrocities.
In this connection, Beijing expresses condemnation to the deadly blast at Davao City night market along the city’s Roxas Avenue on September 2, Fiday evening, which claimed 15 lives and hurt more than 60 others.
The Abu Sayyaf Group later claimed responsibility on the incident.
Hua sent Beijing’s condolences to the families left by those who did not survive the attack.
China’s sending of condolences and support to the Philippine government was made in the midst of disagreement on the territorial issue in the West Philippine Sea (also called by Beijing as the South China Sea).
Meanwhile, Hua said that, “China welcomes President Duterte’s visit to China, and hopes that he can make this visit at an early date. Regarding the possible bilateral leaders’ meeting on the sidelines of the meetings in Laos, we are still gathering information on that”.
“China is open to this proposal”, she added.
