Ronnie Dayan told the Senate that it was De Lima’s idea to collect money from drug lord.
Ronnie Dayan, the former driver-bodyguard of Senator Leila de Lima revealed during the Senate hearing that he received P8 million pesos in funds for De Lima’s electoral campaign.
During the Senate hearing, former driver-bodyguard Ronnie Dayan told the Senate that collecting money from alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa was the idea of the then-Justice Secretary De Lima.
According to a recent news report of ABS-CBN news, Dayan backed the testimony of alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa that he handed to him an amount of 8 million pesos in several transactions.
Dayan told the senate that it was Senator De Lima who gave Espinosa’s number to him. He estimated collecting a total of P8 million from the suspected drug lord.
In a recent news report, during the Senate inquiry on extrajudicial killings, Dayan revealed that it was De Lima’s idea to collect funds for her electoral campaign in the 2016 polls.
“Si Senator De Lima. Inuutusan lang po ako. Doon sa unang pag ano namin, kailangan mag ano tayo ng pondo, ganun lang ang sinabi niya,” he said.
Furthermore, When Dayan was asked to name the people who he had approached for De Lima’s campaign funds, he said, “Si Kerwin Espinosa lang po, sir.”
Dayan denied getting money from other drug lords and claimed that he only received instructions from Kerwin Espinosa.
The suspected top drug lord in Eastern Visayas,Kerwin Espinosa claimed to have transacted with Ronnie Dayan, several times from August 2015 until February this year to fund the senatorial campaign of the then Justice Secretary.
But Senator Leila de Lima has repeatedly denied receiving a single centavo from Espinosa.
