Comelec peeps into the campaign finance record of the president following Imee Marcos’ alleged contribution to his slate.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has launched its investigation on the campaign finance record of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The Comelec probe is following the discovery of the contribution or donation of Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos that has not been reflected to the Statement of Contribution and Expenditures (SOCE) of Duterte.
On October 4, Duterte can be recalled admitting that Governor Marcos, the eldest child of the late Former President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos, is one of the donors in his campaign funds when he joined the Presidential race last May 2016 elections.
He said Marcos is just one of the few politicians who funded his presidential campaign. He even said that Imee loaned money to bankroll his campaign.
But according to Duterte’s SOCE, he had 183 campaign donors but Marco’s name was not listed.
