For President Duterte, to be buried is ‘personal’ and so he does not want any state honors or be laid at the Libingan ng mga Bayani when his life ends.
As strong as his push for the late former President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte wants the other way around for himself when the time comes.
According to President Duterte, he does not want to be laid at the Libingan ng mg Bayani, not even any state honors to be accorded to him when his life already ends.
“Susmaryosep! Kanila na ‘yan. Baka pagtalunan pa natin ‘yan (They can have it, we might even argue over it)”, the Chief Executive said when he visited the tomb of his parents at the Wireless Public Cemetery late Tuesday night.
“I do not want it. Do away with it”, Duterte added, referring to the state honors. The President had previously said that he did not want any eulogies in his honors.
