The government forces believe that the explosives were ‘reserved’ by Islamic militants to finish President Rodrigo Duterte while in Cotabato City.
The government forces separately discovered explosives in two places of Cotabato City in southern Philippines on October 29, Saturday.
On the same day, President Rodrigo Duterte was in Cotabato City to meet with the officials and people of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

According to sources, the members of the Dawla Islamiya Fi Cotabato were planning to detonate the explosives near the compound of the ARMM, where Duterte and the region’s officials met.
The two explosives were made up of an 81-mm mortar round and a 105 howitzer cannon shell rigged with blasting mechanisms attached to cellular phones.
The explosive devices were found before dawn of Saturday at the hideouts of Mohammad Chenikandiyil, Zacaria Lopez, Jackson Usi, and Ansan Mamasapano in the residential areas of Broce District in Datu Odin Sinsuat town and in Cotabato City.
The four suspects were immediately confessed and they readily confessed their allegiance to the Dawla Islamiya militant bloc, operating in the fashion of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
The suspects were detained to Davao City and were held for interrogation.
