Ex-DENR Secretary Gina Lopez expresses her claim.
Gina Lopez, the ex-Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), exposed the alleged funder behind Senator Alan Peter Cayetano’s political campaign.
Lopez, in an interview, claimed that the Zamoras have funded the political campaign of the Senator based on a recent report in GMA News.
According to the report, the former Secretary of DENR expressed that Sen. Cayetano “clearly voted” against her.
“He’s funded by, I mean the Zamoras funded his political campaign, so go figure,” she said in an interview with GMA’s News To Go according to the report.
According to the news report, in the Philippines, the Nickel Asia is the biggest nickel company and its president is Manuel Zamora.
The brother of Manuel, Ronaldo Zamora, is San Juan lone congressional district’s representative based on the news.
The source still reaches out for the statement of Sen. Cayetano and as well as the Zamoras regarding the matter.
Undeniably, the rejection of the confirmation of Lopez’s appointment as the DENR secretary has sparked lots of news reports and elicited various reactions.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visibly supports the advocacy of Lopez and many were surprised when a known Duterte supporter, Sen. Cayetano, did not support the ex-DENR secretary’s appointment.
Reportedly, Sen. Cayetano was among the four senators who did not support Lopez’s appointment.
The other three senators were Sens. Juan Miguel Zubiri, Panfilo Lacson, and Gregorio Honasan.
The following are the representatives who also voted ‘no’ to the confirmation of Lopez’s appointment: Rep. Jerry Treñas; Rep. Rodolfo Albano III; Rep. Josephine Sato; Rep. Julieta Cortuna; Rep. Antonio Floirendo; Rep. Abraham Tolentino; Rep. Benhur Salimbangon; Rep. Roy Loyola; Rep. Joel Mayo Almario; Rep. Ronaldo Zamora; and Rep. Wes Gatchalian.
