A handicapped man selling food to earn a living despite his situation touched the hearts of netizens
Netizen “Noside Nainifrep” shared photos of a handicapped man who tries to earn a living through selling corn and sweet potato in the streets.
The said post was also shared on the Facebook Page of Kami.com.ph.
According to the post, the man cannot use his feet in walking, instead he just uses his knees and hands in order to move from one place to another.
The netizen revealed that the name of the physically incapacitated man is Gilbert Vergara, 30 years old, and living at grand terminal in Lucena City.
All the food he is selling are placed in the bag which he carries on his back and he is being aided by his 10-year old niece Jasmine Conda, who was not able to go to school because of their financial problem.
It was also said that the handicapped man has been selling food on that particular area for quite a long time now.
The said netizen also calls the attention of KMJS or the magazine show of veteran broadcaster Jessica Soho ‘Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho’ in GMA 7 to help the needy man.
Because the post was shared on the FB Page of the news site, there are a lot of netizens who expressed their desire to help the physically incapacitated man.
Facebook user “MJ Encabado” said that she wishes she has the number of the man or the full information about him so that she can extend her help.
There are several netizens who commended how prudent Gilbert Vergara is for he still finds way to earn money in a decent way despite of his situation.
On the other hand, there are those who are calling the attention of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) especially in Lucena City to give the needed assistance to the handicapped man, based on the post.
