The DOJ assured that there will be impartiality as they handle the case filed by VACC against the lady senator.
The Department of Justice assured that the case filed before them against Senator Leila de Lima will undergo due process and that there will be impartiality in the DOJ’s dealing with it.
The DOJ statement came following the filing of case of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) against Senator De Lima in connection to her involvement in the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said that they are looking into the merits of the case and as of now, they are weighing if there is probable cause in the charge filed.
According to Aguirre, this is to ensure that there will be special treatment in the charge filed against De Lima and seven others who are also allegedly involved in the drug trade inside the national penitentiary.
The DOJ Chief said, they shall treat the case filed by VACC just like how they deal with other cases that they handle with impartiality.
