There is an overseas Filipino worker in Qatar who has a very inspiring story to tell
His name is Emmanuel Rabulan is from Victoria, Oriental Mindoro who is a former fruit vendor here in the Philippines before he decided to seek a greener pasture abroad.
When they were still had a fruit stand in their hometown, he and his wife were earning up to P10, 000 daily, based on the article recently published in kami.com.ph.
On the other hand, Rabulon saw an opportunity to work in Italy with the hope to earn a higher income.
Due to that, he decided to sell his minivan, along with their fruit stand in order to have money for processing his needed documents.
However, Rabulon did not expect that what the offer for him was a scam and he did not even reach Italy. Their illegal recruiter left them in Qatar.
By the time he was there, in order to have money for his airfare; he worked as a dishwasher in various restaurants and sold fruits.
Fortunately, Rabulon was able to go back to the Philippines but eventually he decided to go back to Qatar and worked as a janitor.
Because his earnings from being a cleaner is not enough to support her family back home, he decided to sell ‘adobong mani’ every night.
From 5 o’clock in the afternoon until 10 o’clock in the evening, the OFW was at the Al Batha market to earn extra money.
Luckily, Rabulon was earning as much as 700 riyals or 9,200 pesos which is just the same amount of his janitorial salary.
His hard work paid off and he was even recognized and was awarded with Outstanding OFW and Balikbayan Reputaion award in 2012.
Based on the article, Rabulon is now a storekeeper in Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Indeed, the hard work and determination of this OFW is an inspiring story.
