Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), surrendered to authorities on Sunday after being given a 24-hour ultimatum by the Philippine National Police (PNP). The fugitive pastor, facing multiple charges, turned himself in at Camp Crame in Quezon City following negotiations with police forces.
In a press briefing, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo confirmed that Quiboloy was arrested around 5:30 p.m. inside the KOJC compound in Davao City. The ultimatum was issued after the PNP threatened to enter a specific building within the compound if the pastor and his associates did not surrender. The operation was a coordinated effort between the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
“Kanina pong mga bandang ala-una y medya ng hapon ay nagkaroon ng negosasyon para po sa mapayapa po nilang pagsuko,” Fajardo said, noting that negotiations began at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. She added that the PNP had issued the ultimatum, warning that if Quiboloy’s group did not surrender, police would be forced to enter the restricted area in the compound.
Aside from Quiboloy, several individuals associated with him were also apprehended. These include Cresente Canada, Sylvia Cemañes, Jackielyn Roy, and Ingrid Canada, who were all wanted on various charges. According to reports, Quiboloy and his companions were located inside a building within the KOJC compound, which the police had targeted as part of their operation.
At around 6:30 p.m., Quiboloy and his group were flown from Davao City to Villamor Airbase in Manila, arriving at 8:30 p.m. From there, they were transported to Camp Crame, where they arrived at approximately 9:10 p.m. They then underwent the booking process.
“Na-inspect na rin po sila at nasa maayos naman po silang kondisyon, although some of them ay mataas po ‘yung BP [blood pressure],” Fajardo reported, referring to the health of Quiboloy and his companions following their arrest. Despite some having elevated blood pressure, all individuals were declared to be in stable condition, and the processing continued smoothly.
Quiboloy has faced various charges in the past, including allegations of trafficking and other criminal activities. His surrender comes after months of evading arrest, with the PNP and AFP now set to process the charges against him and his associates.
